We build healthier communities by supporting the bond between humans and their natural environment, pets, and agriculture.

Curing veterinary care deserts

Petopia and Heal House Call Veterinarian have teamed up to create a roadmap to happier, healthier communities, pets, and veterinarians. We incubate Heal Impact Practices that permanently address access-to-care challenges, reduce resource deserts, promote inclusion, and heal the veterinary industry. Petopia and the Heal Impact Practice initiative are proud recipients of funding from The Dave & Cheryl Duffield Foundation as well as support from our partners, the SPCA of Northern Nevada and PetSmart Charities.

  • Great gaps in today's practice of veterinary medicine result in one out of four pets, many pet parents, and veterinarians themselves not getting the care they need.

  • Heal Impact Practice veterinarians are on a mission to provide care for vulnerable pet families within their communities. Heal’s model supports and empowers the veterinarians, who own their own practice and have a passion for making an impact.

  • Vets face many obstacles to practice ownership, especially in vulnerable communities. We don’t think these mission-driven vets should have to shoulder all the risk, so we’re funding practice start-up and operations for three years for Impact Practices in specific regions.
